After purchasing their new 1970s home in Utrecht, the new owners approached Studio TOIMII to design a new kitchen that was due for replacement.
The new owners, with a passion for cooking, weren't sure where to begin, but they were looking for a way to connect the kitchen more with the rest of the house and elevate their shared passion for cooking to a new level.
By opening up the semi-enclosed kitchen space and rotating the kitchen's orientation a quarter turn, a completely new feeling emerged for both the kitchen and the adjoining living room. This intervention created an open and larger living and cooking area, with both more cooking and storage space.
By connecting with the rest of the house's 1970s style, with a refined layering of materials and colors, the new kitchen design feels like a logical and natural part of the house.
The result is a new perspective on shared cooking and dining.
